We are looking for an Intermediate Data Engineer who’ll be working on a project for one of the USA-based startups - Bizly. It's a hybrid meeting SaaS product built for fortune 500 enterprise companies who need to source and contract venues planning hybrid events. Some of the Bizly users are McDonalds, Apple, and Merck.
The Data Engineer will report to the Tech Lead and ensure the Bizly team has access to timely, accurate, relevant, and proactively persuasive insights to efficiently grow the business. This includes implementing data logging for usage tracking on our enterprise platform, reporting on usage trends, and building data ETLs with external APIs pulling data regularly into their database, as well as, resolving conflicts.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building amazing experiences and takes pride in owning projects from ideation to completion.
Building, maintaining, and managing the Bizly’s ETL pipelines to pull in data from a variety of third-party sources (travelport API, curated venues data, scraped data, Amadeus, ThrustCarbon, OpenTable)
Determining how to handle data conflicts
Working with Full Stack Engineers to build Bizly’s data warehouse and help in tracking user interactions
Generate reports for the product hypotheses
Educational background in computer science or engineering (data and API development)
2+ years of relevant engineering experience at a tech-forward, product-driven company or startup
A strong commitment to diversity and thoughtfulness about your decisions and reasoning
A track record of making foundational engineering decisions that were right and scaled
Prepared to improvise and problem-solve solutions on the spot with difficult, atypical problems
The ability to communicate its vision, strategy, and the reason behind your decisions both internally and externally
A tactical “roll up the sleeves” approach to the work, being able to work independently and be resourceful when there isn’t a full-time or in-house resource for the need
Experience in working with AWS
Experience in a culture centered on accountability and continuous improvement
Excellent verbal and written English
Python, Scala, Spark, EMR, or AirFlow
